Course Description

Theoretical component: 40% Practical component: 60%

This training is intended for any worker required to respond to a fall incident or perform a height rescue. It aims to develop the skills needed to carry out a safe rescue operation that complies with legal and regulatory requirements while protecting both the rescuer and the victim.
Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to design, plan, and execute a post-fall rescue operation, with full control of the equipment, procedures, and appropriate techniques.

Training objectives:

  • Understand the principles of height rescue and the risks associated with suspension.
  • Know the applicable laws, regulations, and standards (RSST, CSA, NFPA, etc.).
  • Identify hazards and apply proper prevention practices.
  • Select, inspect, and maintain rescue equipment.
  • Implement an effective and compliant rescue plan.
  • Apply appropriate rescue techniques depending on the situation (self-rescue, assisted rescue, remote rescue, or accompanied rescue).

Training content:

  • Legal framework and the responsibilities of employers and rescuers.
  • Physiological aspects: suspension trauma and related risks.
  • Access methods, high-risk zones, and fall protection systems.
  • Rescue equipment: anchors, harnesses, ropes, carabiners, pulleys, Rollgliss systems, etc.
  • Equipment inspection, maintenance, and storage.
  • Rescue planning and care of a suspended victim.
  • Rescue techniques: self-rescue, assisted rescue, pre-installed systems, remote rescue, or accompanied rescue.
  • Practical exercises and realistic field simulations.

Prerequisites
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be in good physical condition (mobility, ability to work in confined positions, etc.)
  • Have completed the Working at Heights / Fall Protection training (8 hours)
Training available for private groups or public sessions

Training can be delivered at our facilities or directly at the client’s site.
