Work at Height and Fall Protection

Practical component: 40%

This training is intended for any worker required to perform tasks at height or use fall protection equipment.
It aims to develop the skills needed to recognize fall hazards, use equipment safely, and apply preventive measures in compliance with CSA regulations.
Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to identify hazards related to work at height, select and use appropriate equipment, and implement proper protection and rescue techniques.

Training objectives:

• Understand the laws, standards, and obligations related to work at height
• Identify hazards and apply fall prevention principles
• Select, inspect, and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Set up a safe and compliant fall arrest system
• Understand rescue and emergency procedures in the event of an incident

Training content:

• Legal framework, regulations, and responsibilities of personnel
• Hierarchy of controls and prevention planning
• Work zones, safe access, and hazard identification
• Selection and use of PPE: harnesses, lanyards, connectors, self-retracting devices, lifelines, etc.
• Basic inspection and maintenance of equipment
• Principles of collective and individual protection
• Suspension trauma awareness and rescue planning
• Practical exercises and realistic work simulations
